CryoPen Therapy in Thanet, Kent

If you have unwanted skin tags, unsightly skin lesions/ bumps , dark patches of sun damage/pigmentation or other concerns such as warts, or small cysts, our highly trained Nurses can use the Cryopen device to remove these quicky, with relatively little downtime or pain. Cryotherapy is the controlled destruction of unwanted tissue by the precise application of extreme cold. CryoPen is the first cryotherapy instrument with micro technology which enables practitioners to deliver high precision; only freezing the lesion, avoiding healthy tissues.

Cryotherapy Treatment Guide & FAQS

The process is called cryo-necrosis, tissue destruction by freezing. Tissue destruction occurs when cells are low in temperature and at least -80 ° F and ice crystals will form. The ice crystals break the cell membrane, destroy the cells organelles and protein matrixes. Water then rushes into the surrounding area causing blistering and disruption of the local blood supply.

  • FDA approved

  • No pain
  • No scarring
  • Minimal post-op care
  • Portable and practical

CryoPen treats benign skin lesions on the surface of the skin, many of which are no longer able to be treated by doctors under the NHS, due to their cosmetic nature. More complex lesions should be examined first and treated by a suitably qualified medical professional, so you may wish to speak to your GP about them first. It can treat lesions on the face, scalp and body including:

  • Skin tags
  • Age/liver spots
  • Milia
  • Cherry angioma
  • Viral verrucae (warts)
  • Solar lentigo (sunspots)
  • Other pigmentation
  • Plantar warts
  • Condyloma (genital or anal warts)
  • Popular nevi (moles, birthmarks etc)
  • Contagiosum (water warts)
  • Hyperplasia

CryoPen treatment is relatively pain-free, with most of our patients experiencing a mild stinging sensation for only seconds.

Cryotherapy is quicker than other treatments and patients can be in and out in seconds. There are no limitations on activity except to protect the area from damage or abrasion. We advise to keep the area clean and dry for at least 24 hours. Skin will be very red and warm for 24-48 hours post treatment and peeling usually occurs around day 2-4. It is crucial that you stay out of the direct sunlight, apply SPF and avoid exercise for the stated times in your aftercare advice sheet.

Cryopen treatment is suitable for most benign skin lesions, however we may advise to seek advise and consent from your GP prior to treatment.

For most lesions, cryotherapy is a permanent removal. Some lesions are harder to remove than others. In addition, it is necessary to obtain a final result with the least damage to the surrounding skin. In other instances, a deep lesion may take several treatments to get results.
